Bei Topia Island steht der Auf- und Ausbau der eigenen Insel im Vordergrund. Als Thematik wurde eine emotional packende Geschichte von Widerstand und Rebellion gewählt. Kampfelemente sorgen so für zusätzliche Abwechslung im Spiel. Der Grafikstil und die Spielatmosphäre sind dabei bewusst casual gehalten. Entsprechend wird die Hintergrundgeschichte stets mit einem Augenzwinkern und humorvollen Dialogen erzählt. Dem Spieler werden zahlreiche Möglichkeiten geboten nicht nur sein Inselreich zu dekorieren und zu gestalten, sondern auch einzelne Einheiten durch selbst hergestellte Items aufzuwerten
